The Greater New York Chapter of the Music Library Association (GNYMLA) is offering a travel grant of $700 to a qualified applicant for the purpose of attending the 2018 Music Library Association (MLA) annual conference in Portland, Oregon, January 31 – February 4, 2018. Students, paraprofessionals, or professionals in the first five years of their professional careers who are likely to benefit from the conference’s educational opportunities are eligible to apply. Applicants must currently be students or residents of the New York City metropolitan area. Graduate students should be currently enrolled in a MLIS program, with a demonstrated focus and interest in music librarianship as a career. Early-career librarians, archivists, and paraprofessionals in the field of music are also welcome to apply. Preference will be given to applicants who have not yet attended a national meeting of MLA.
The application deadline is October 15, 2017. Applicants will be notified by October 31, 2017. Grant funds are to be used at recipient’s discretion for registration, travel, and other expenses related to attending the conference. Grant recipient will be required to submit a report in the form of a blog post for the chapter’s blog, to be a minimum 700 words.
