2022 Spring Meeting Planning, Nominations for Chair

Good afternoon, music librarians of the Greater New York Metropolitan Area!

Our tentative date for the spring chapter meeting will be May 13. Go ahead and block off that morning on your calendars, but if anyone knows of a good reason why it shouldn’t be May 13, please let me know. It’s still flexible at this stage.

Of course, with the date established, the next question to hand involves the venue. We have explored a couple of options (The Louis Armstrong House and Stoney Brook), both institutions are open to the idea of hosting a chapter meeting, but cannot do so this spring. Our intrepid vice-chair, Alica Stephens, is pursuing some other ideas, but we could use your help as well! If you have any good ideas for an interesting venue for our spring chapter meeting, let us know. If *your* institution is ready, willing, and able, step right up! We would love to take advantage of your employer’s largesse and would enjoy seeing where you work and admiring your collections/projects/unique holdings.

Speaking of meeting, have you been working on something interesting? Have you been recently published? Do you have a student or co-worker with some research to present? The Spring Meeting is a fantastic opportunity to deliver a paper or presentation to a professional organization in a very non-threatening environment. Let us know, and we’ll get you on the schedule.

Finally, my term as chair is nearing its end. We will need to hold an election soon, and nominations are wide open! If you’re interested in running let me know. I’m happy to answer any questions that you might have. Yes, you may nominate yourself.

Stay tuned for more news and have a wonderful day!
